Athletics Update

Please see the following update from our Athletic Director, Michael Tasker.

Good evening East Athletics team and families,

In light of the events at East High School today, we will be canceling or rescheduling our competitions and practices for the remainder of this week, 3/22 – 3/26. This will align with the closure of the school for this week. This will include all on and off site practices and competitions. We must provide the opportunity for our athletes, coaches, and staff to take the necessary time to decompress, reflect, and attend to their emotional and mental health needs.

There will be more communication in the coming days about what spring break athletic schedules will look like. We will need to discuss this with our school leadership, district leadership, and local authorities in order to receive more guidance on how we will conduct future athletic events. Until that time please do not gather for practices on or off site from East.

Please communicate this information to your entire athletic programs including athletes, their families, and your coaching staff. Also, see the communication directly from East High School and Principal Walker about school closure and other pertinent information.

If you need access to mental health support, services will be available for East High School students and staff at Manual High School (1700 E 28th Ave, Denver, CO 80205) in the gymnasium from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.

If your student needs to access East High School to retrieve their belongings they will be able to enter the building from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
